Passings of Two Prominent Evangelical Theologians

In the past week, American Christians have heard of the deaths of two prominent Evangelical theologians: Donald Bloesch (who died on August 24th) and Clark Pinnock (who died on August 15th). Both have written books that have greatly influenced the church through the years.

Donald Bloesch was an evangelical voice within the United Church of Christ and a professor emeritus at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary who has written many books – I think I first read his Essentials of Evangelical Theology in the early 1980s. We have this, and 32 more titles (!), in the Stamps Theological Library.

Clark Pinnock, also an evangelical and a friend and visitor to our campus, was a long-time professor of systematic theology at McMaster Divinity College in Hamilton, Ontario. Also a prolific writer, we have 17 of his books in our collections.

When you visit the library, consider checking out one of their books to learn more of their ideas and the impact they have made on the global church.
