Belated Valentines …

I thought I would share with you two “Valentines” (of a sort) as this week begins.

The first “valentine” is from the University Libraries – if you have any overdue books out (including Link+) and have fines to pay, the fines are being waived between February 14-29! Bring your books back to one of the libraries and clear up your account (that is, if you need to)!

The second “valentine” is a wonderful essay that appeared this week in The Chronicle of Higher Education. It is “In Praise of Reference Book Authors” by Donald Altschiller. The article is linked here – I think you might enjoy it too.

Reference books are an important part of all libraries, even in an age of Google and Wikipedia, and in the Stamps Theological Library we use reference books like dictionaries, encyclopedias, concordances, commentaries, atlases, and language resources every day.
